Wouldn't touch a gauze cotton filter. They're overrated and allow more crap in than paper filters, over time the oil coating that is applied to the cotton gauze coats the MAF sensor and causes it to report inaccurate airflow.


I did a test on Ford Focus 1.6 with an OBDII scanner, I checked the max MAF reading before and after a K&N was fitted, there was no difference.
